Question Formation
It’s important to form the right kind of question before brainstorming. As a team, form your foundational idea generation question, by following the guidelines below.
Write your question at the top of the whiteboard, and then click “Next” below.
Question Formation Guidelines:
--
-
First, start the question with “How might we…”. (e.g. "How might we improve X"?… "How might we completely re-imagine Y?"… "How might we find a new way to accomplish Z?")
-
Form a question that is not too broad (e.g. “How might we solve poverty?”) and not too narrow (e.g. “How might we increase the profitability of a food delivery service?”).
-
Typically, questions are initially too narrow. Teams should zoom out to focus on a larger vision: one that may open the door to new ideas during brainstorming.
